The Cincinnati Bengals may be a popular name in trade rumors, but don't expect any major moves from the team anytime soon. With less than $10 million in cap space—and no Joe Burrow contract restructure on the immediate horizon—the Bengals are operating on a tight budget. That financial reality, combined with a crowded depth chart, makes a blockbuster deal unlikely for now.

The Bengals recently declined the fifth-year option on defensive end Myles Murphy, a move that signals confidence in their young pass-rushing core rather than a need to spend big elsewhere. As we've noted, this decision reflects progress in their roster development.

Still, the Bengals remain a frequent topic in trade discussions. Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox recently floated the idea of Cincinnati trading for New York Giants edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux. The proposed cost? A fourth-round pick. Knox points out that Thibodeaux, a 2022 first-round pick, has shown flashes of brilliance—like his 11.5-sack season in 2023—but is entering a contract year without a starring role in New York's pass rush.

On paper, it's an intriguing possibility: adding a 25-year-old former top-five pick to a stable of developing pass-rushers. But here's the catch—if Thibodeaux hasn't carved out a major role with the Giants, it's hard to see how he'd break through in Cincinnati's already crowded rotation.

The Bengals' depth at edge rusher is real. They have former first-rounders Myles Murphy and Shemar Stewart, and they've talked up seventh-round pick Cashius Howell as a potential steal. They also made a splash in free agency by signing Boye Mafe. That's a lot of talent competing for snaps.

Could injuries during training camp change the equation? Absolutely. If the Bengals suffer some setbacks in the summer, they might start exploring deals like the one for Thibodeaux. But for now, the team's focus is squarely on locking up Murphy to an extension, not adding another high-profile name to the mix.
