The Bemidji High School boys golf team found themselves in a familiar position at the top of the leaderboard at the Arnold Palmer Invite on Tuesday—but they had to share the spotlight. Playing at the scenic Deacon's Lodge in Breezy Point, the Lumberjacks and Little Falls both carded identical team rounds of 323, resulting in a tie for first place in a tightly contested field.
Leading the charge for Bemidji were Isaac Mattfield and Joel Prokop, each firing an 80 to secure a share of fifth place individually. Camden Bentfield wasn't far behind, posting an 81 to finish 12th, while Wyatt Ressemann's 82 earned him 18th. Conrad Foss rounded out the top scorers with an 86 (29th), and Trent Hammitt finished with a 94 (46th) to complete the Jacks' lineup.
On the individual side, Little Falls' Peyton Carr stole the show with the lowest round of the day, a stellar 75 that highlighted the Flyers' balanced attack.
The team standings reflected a competitive day on the course, with Hermantown (326), Pequot Lakes (327), and Crosby-Ironton/Aitkin (330) rounding out the top five. Pierz (338), Staples-Motley (339), Walker-Hackensack-Akeley (341), Hibbing (360), and Pine River-Backus (375) completed the field.
For Bemidji, the shared victory is a strong early-season statement, showing depth and consistency as they look to build momentum. With Mattfield and Prokop setting the pace, and Bentfield and Ressemann providing solid support, the Jacks have the pieces to compete in every tournament they enter. Keep an eye on this squad as they continue to fine-tune their game—and don't forget to gear up with the right apparel to match their winning style on the course.
