Chicago could use a game-wrecker.

The Chicago Bears are on the hunt for a game-changing edge rusher, and the latest buzz has them linked to a 16-sack star—though it's not the blockbuster name fans might expect.

While dreams of landing Maxx Crosby or Myles Garrett make for great headlines, the reality is that those moves are probably a stretch. Instead, the Bears could turn to a veteran with a proven track record: Haason Reddick.

Reddick, who turns 32 this September, was once one of the NFL's most feared pass rushers. From 2020 to 2023, he posted four straight double-digit sack seasons, including a career-high 16 sacks in 2022 and 11 more in 2023. But his production has taken a sharp downturn since then, managing just 3.5 sacks over the last two seasons.

Still, even a diminished Reddick could provide a much-needed boost for a Chicago defense that struggled mightily in 2025. According to USA TODAY's Tyler Dragon, Reddick's 34 pressures last season would have ranked fourth on the Bears—a telling stat for a team that had the NFC's worst pass rush win rate.

The Bears didn't address their edge rush need in the draft, and with Montez Sweat needing a reliable partner on the opposite side, Reddick could be a savvy, low-risk addition. He may not be the superstar splash fans are hoping for, but in a market where every sack counts, a veteran with his pedigree might be exactly what Chicago needs to finally get after the quarterback.
