In a strategic move that bolsters their bowling attack, Warwickshire have cut short Olly Hannon-Dalby's loan spell with Worcestershire, recalling the veteran seamer just in time for their upcoming clash against Yorkshire.
The 36-year-old right-armer initially joined the Pears on a two-week deal at the start of April, which was later extended to cover four County Championship fixtures against Kent, Northamptonshire, Durham, and Lancashire. However, with the Bears needing reinforcements, Hannon-Dalby has been summoned back to Edgbaston and named in the squad for Friday's home match against Yorkshire.
During his stint with Worcestershire, the experienced seamer made a solid impression, claiming 11 wickets in four appearances at an impressive average of 30.36. His standout performance came against Middlesex at Lord's, where he returned figures of 4-45 to help secure a victory for his temporary side.
Hannon-Dalby's original loan was arranged while Worcestershire awaited the arrival of South African all-rounder Beyers Swanepoel. With Swanepoel now available and already making an impact—debuting with seven wickets in two matches, including the innings win over Kent—the timing was right for Warwickshire to bring their experienced campaigner back into the fold.
Meanwhile, Worcestershire, currently sitting fourth in Division Two, face a tough test as they host leaders Durham at New Road this Friday. The visitors will be buoyed by the return of England Test captain Ben Stokes, who makes his comeback from injury—adding an extra layer of intrigue to what promises to be a compelling round of County Championship action.
