Bayern Munich board member Uli Hoeneß has sparked a thrilling debate by comparing winger Michael Olise to club legend Arjen Robben—and then taking it a step further. In a recent interview with DAZN, Hoeneß declared that Olise's finishing precision might actually surpass that of the iconic Dutchman.

"His incredible technique, his work rate, and above all, his finishing precision are exceptional," Hoeneß said. "Arjen Robben was similar in this respect, but I think Michael has even more precision with his irresistible left-footed shot into the top left corner. He's simply too technically gifted."

Since joining Bayern from Crystal Palace, the 24-year-old Frenchman has evolved into one of the world's most dangerous wingers. His stats this season are nothing short of jaw-dropping: 21 goals and 27 assists across all competitions, with 19 league assists alone—a joint-high among Europe's top five leagues. He's also matched the record for goal involvements by a winger in a single Bundesliga campaign.

Olise's form has been a driving force behind Bayern's relentless pursuit of a treble. Alongside Harry Kane and Luis Diaz, he's helped the German champions shatter the Bundesliga's goal record, netting an astonishing 116 times in just 32 league games. The team's attacking firepower has been almost unfair to opposing defenses.

The comparisons to Robben are inevitable. Like the former Bayern star, Olise loves to cut inside from the right onto his lethal left foot, curling shots into the far corner with devastating accuracy. But Hoeneß believes Olise brings something extra: a near-telepathic sense of timing. "He always gets the timing right, waits until the opponent is out of position or has shifted his weight incorrectly—and then he's gone. He hardly needs any time to look for the shot. That's unusual."

All eyes now turn to the Champions League, where Bayern face Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of their semi-final tonight. Olise already made his mark in a wild 5-4 first-leg defeat at the Parc des Princes, scoring a goal that showcased exactly the kind of precision Hoeneß raved about. With the tie finely balanced, the stage is set for Olise to prove he's more than just the next Robben—he might just be the new standard.
