More weird rumors linking Davies, United (EPL Index)It is sometimes hard to discern exactly where transfer rumors come from, this one linking Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies to Manchester United continues to befuddle us. Here is the latest news:

Manchester United have held talks with Bayern Munich regarding a move for Alphonso Davies, a player long admired internally for his pace, technical quality and attacking output from full-back.

The Canada international has endured a disrupted period following a serious knee injury. Despite signing a long-term contract until 2030, he has struggled to re-establish himself consistently under Vincent Kompany, with Bayern continuing to perform strongly without him. That context has opened a window of opportunity. Bayern Munich are understood to be willing to sanction a sale this summer for the right fee, effectively providing Manchester United with the green light to advance discussions if they choose to act decisively.

As one source close to the situation might describe it, “Elite clubs monitor moments of vulnerability in the market, and this feels like one of them.”

This is most assuredly nonsense, but let’s entertain the thought of it. It would make no sense for Bayern Munich to ink a hefty new deal with Davies last season, only to turn around and flip him — barring some sort of financial collapse within the club We are fairly certain that CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen did not invest the club’s savings into the Bored Ape NFT.

Anyway, we will probably see more iterations of this rumor, but for now (and likely later), there does not seem to be anything valid behind it.

Chelsea is not giving up in its pursuit of FC Köln attacker Said El Mala:

Chelsea remain interested in FC Cologne forward Said El Mala, says Bild. The 19-year-old has scored 10 goals in 28 Bundesliga appearances this season, and also also been linked with Brighton, Everton and Brentford, but his representatives have dismissed an approach from Newcastle. Meanwhile, the Blues are closely watching the situation of Al Hilal striker Darwin Núñez, according to TEAMtalk. Nunez, 26, has recently been linked with Juventus and his representatives are actively exploring a return to Europe this summer after being unregistered in the Saudi Pro League by manager Simone Inzaghi.

Manchester City is reportedly entering the race for Hertha Berlin midfield phenom Kennet Eichhorn, which could make it difficult for other competitors:

🚨⭐️ EXCL: Manchester City join the race with Bundesliga and Premier League clubs for German gem Kennet Eichhorn.

16 year old talent seen as interesting profile with Man City, one more PL club and Bundesliga giants on it.

Bayern Munich is not out of the running for Eichhorn, but might not be in serious pursuit either. It has been reported that he is the one player the club would splurge on to bolster the central midfield for next season — otherwise it will staff that position from within.

Former Bayern Munich academy player Angelo Stiller is getting interest from Manchester United once again:

Manchester United have identified Stuttgart star Angelo Stiller as genuine midfield option ahead of the summer window, with sources confirming to TEAMtalk that the German international has been watched closely throughout 2026.

Stiller is no stranger to Man Utd‘s recruitment team. The 25-year-old has long been on their radar, with the Red Devils among the clubs keen on him prior to his contract extension with Stuttgart in January 2025.

Now, with a summer move increasingly likely, United have re-engaged. German sources indicate Stuttgart are open to selling, with an initial valuation of around £50million. However, our sources understand intermediaries have suggested a deal could be struck for slightly less.

While Stiller does have a £35million release clause, it is not viewed as a straightforward route to a transfer. Stuttgart retain the option to buy out that clause for just £1.5million — a sum payable directly to the player — meaning any deal is expected to be negotiated separately.

Stiller himself opted against a move in 2025, choosing instead to focus on securing his place in Julian Nagelsmann’s World Cup plans — a decision that appears to be paying off, with the midfielder now well positioned for selection.

Stiller has had a decent season, but not great. Right now, even a World Cup roster spot is not a certainty. A jump to the Red Devils could be one of those “make or break” moments for Stiller, who might benefit from a longer stay with VfB Stuttgart.

For anyone holding out hope that Bayern Munich would (somehow) get Liverpool FC legend Mo Salah, Sport Bild’s Christian Falk back up Max Eberl in saying that a move to Bayern was not in the cards:
