In a swift resolution to a legal matter, the misdemeanor battery case against Dallas Wings star guard Arike Ogunbowale has been officially closed, according to court documents released Wednesday. The case was dismissed under a "nolle pros" ruling, meaning prosecutors decided not to pursue criminal charges, with Judge Betsy Alvarez-Zane presiding over the closure.

The incident dates back to March 5, when Ogunbowale was arrested just hours after celebrating an Unrivaled championship victory with Mist BC. According to police reports, the altercation occurred at 4:22 a.m. outside Miami's E11even nightclub. Ogunbowale, who was being escorted out following an unrelated dispute, allegedly struck a man with a closed fist, causing him to fall. Security footage reportedly backed the victim's account, but Ogunbowale was taken into custody without further incident.

For the four-time WNBA All-Star, this marks a quick legal resolution as she continues to build on an impressive career. Drafted fifth overall by the Dallas Wings in 2019, Ogunbowale has become a cornerstone of the franchise. She recently re-signed with Dallas on a multiyear deal in April, solidifying her commitment to the team.

Ogunbowale's involvement in Unrivaled, the innovative 3-on-3 league, has also been noteworthy. After playing for Vinyl BC in the league's inaugural season, she moved to Mist BC in her second campaign, where she helped secure a championship. Now, with the legal matter behind her, Ogunbowale can focus entirely on what she does best: lighting up the court for the Wings and continuing to inspire fans with her electrifying play.
