With the World Cup just around the corner, German football icon Bastian Schweinsteiger has weighed in on how he'd set up the national team if he were in charge. Speaking to Sport Bild, the 2014 World Cup winner shared his ideal starting XI—and it's packed with Bayern Munich talent.

One of the biggest talking points? Schweinsteiger opted for Bayern's Leon Goretzka over Borussia Dortmund's Felix Nmecha to partner Aleksandar Pavlović in midfield. "I see Leon Goretzka there," he explained. "Felix Nmecha is still recovering from injury, and Leon brings the physicality you need—especially in the U.S., where kick-off times demand top-level running. Both he and Pavlović are having strong seasons at Bayern."

Schweinsteiger emphasized the value of club chemistry, adding: "As national team coach, I'd lean heavily on Bayern players right now. They bring that winning momentum from their club."

On the wings, the 41-year-old turned to Stuttgart's Chris Führich to fill in for the injured Serge Gnabry. "Chris has developed really well at Stuttgart. He brings something unpredictable that's tough to defend," Schweinsteiger noted. He also floated alternatives, like moving Jamal Musiala to the right and bringing in Jamie Leweling for a more defensive setup, or giving Lennart Karl a nod after his impressive international cameos against Switzerland and Ghana.

Here's Schweinsteiger's full World Cup starting lineup: Oliver Baumann in goal; a back four of Joshua Kimmich, Jonathan Tah, Nico Schlotterbeck, and David Raum; a midfield duo of Leon Goretzka and Aleksandar Pavlović; an attacking trio of Jamal Musiala, Florian Wirtz, and Chris Führich; with Kai Havertz leading the line up front.
