The Texas high school baseball playoffs are heating up, and the bi-district round delivered some unforgettable action. Flower Mound edged out Allen in a nail-biting 4-3 Game 1 victory, proving that patience at the plate pays off. After Allen tied the game in the top of the sixth with a bases-loaded walk, Flower Mound responded immediately. Jackson Sartor drew a bases-loaded walk of his own in the next inning, scoring Parker Brann to take the lead. Closer Logan Richards sealed the win with a grounder right to him for the final out. Flower Mound outhit Allen 7-3, with catcher Grant Plasek leading the charge with two hits and an RBI.

Over in Sachse, the Mustangs rolled to a dominant 14-4 win over Rockwall-Heath in a showdown between two ranked teams. Greyson Darden was unstoppable, going 4-for-5 with four RBIs, including a two-run single that sparked a six-run second inning. Heath tried to rally in the third with Mick Randle's two-run double, but Sachse responded with a five-run sixth inning to put the game away. Jacob Ponce and Colt Upchurch combined for six RBIs, while the loss marked Heath's largest margin of defeat since February.

Byron Nelson made a statement with an 11-1 blowout over Mansfield Legacy. Kenson Buth was a force at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three doubles and two RBIs, while also dominating on the mound with nine strikeouts and allowing just three hits. Reid Williams added two hits and three RBIs, including a double. Game 2 is set for 7 p.m. Thursday at Legacy.

Hillcrest kicked off their series with a 3-0 shutout over Mesquite Poteet, thanks to a complete-game gem from sophomore Diego Wong. Wong allowed just four hits and struck out 10 batters, keeping Poteet off the board entirely. Meanwhile, Southlake Carroll also started their playoffs with a shutout victory, adding to the excitement of a thrilling opening round.
