The Northwestern Wildcats ended a grueling 10-game Big Ten losing streak this weekend, bouncing back from a tough loss at Wrigley Field to take the series against Indiana with back-to-back wins, 7-4 and 9-6.

Friday's matchup at the iconic 'Cats Classic in Wrigley Field didn't go as planned. Snow flurries and a determined Hoosiers squad handed Northwestern a 9-2 defeat, marking the team's tenth consecutive conference loss. After being swept by Purdue, Michigan, and Minnesota in previous weekends, the Wildcats' hopes for a Big Ten Tournament berth were hanging by a thread.

But late Friday night, the 'Cats packed up from the Friendly Confines and headed back north to Evanston, desperate for answers—and wins. They found both at Rocky and Berenice Miller Park.

Saturday started with Indiana jumping out early, scoring in the first and adding two more in the third off sophomore pitcher Matt Kouser. But the tide turned in the bottom of the third when Ryan Kucherack unleashed a bases-clearing double, scoring Jack Lausch, Owen Mcelfatrick, and Nick Barron to tie the game at three. Lausch then broke the tie in the fifth with a two-run homer to right field—his team-leading 11th of the season.

After the third inning, Kouser found his groove, tossing three shutout innings and allowing just one hit over 11 batters. In the bottom of the seventh, Kucherack laced an RBI single up the middle to break the tie and put Lausch on third. Northwestern then manufactured another run with a clever double-steal: Kucherack's delayed steal drew a throw from Indiana catcher T.J. Schuyler to second base. As Hoosiers second baseman Landen Fry intercepted the throw, Lausch broke for the plate. Fry fumbled the ball, allowing Northwestern's seventh run to score before the Hoosiers settled for tagging Kucherack between first and second.

First-year pitcher Jake Rifenburg, an Illinois native, closed the game on the mound with three innings of work, allowing just one run. The Wildcats took the contest 7-4, securing their first Big Ten win since April 5.
