Big shakeup in the Ohio high school baseball landscape as the latest state rankings have landed, and local teams are making serious noise. Centerville has stormed to the top of the Division I poll, joining Butler as the only No. 1-ranked teams from the area.
The Elks (19-2) vaulted two spots to claim the top spot in the latest Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association state rankings, released Monday. With seven first-place votes in their pocket, Centerville capped off an undefeated run to the Greater Western Ohio Conference championship, sweeping No. 7 Beavercreek (16-5) and No. 8 Springboro (16-5) in back-to-back statement wins.
While Olentangy Liberty (20-2) actually snagged more first-place votes (nine), Centerville holds a 17-point advantage in total voting points. Archbishop Moeller (15-5) slid from first to third after swapping spots with the Elks.
In Division III, Butler (17-3) holds firm at No. 1, and they're not alone—four other Southwest Ohio squads are making their presence felt in the top eight. Badin (17-3) stays locked in at No. 2, while Kenton Ridge (18-4) climbs to No. 3. Tippecanoe (17-5) jumps to No. 5, Bellbrook (18-3) moves up to No. 8, and Monroe (14-4) checks in at No. 17.
Division II sees Troy (19-1) rising one spot to No. 2, though they didn't receive a single first-place vote—No. 1 Lakewood swept all 20. Urbana (17-5) is the lone local rep in Division IV, landing at No. 15.
Coldwater (17-2) holds strong at No. 2 in Division V, joined by No. 14 Arcanum (18-2), No. 15 Versailles (15-6), and No. 16 Anna (15-4). Mechanicsburg (18-0) remains undefeated and sits at No. 3 in Division VI, with St. Henry (16-2) at No. 5 and Fort Recovery (13-6) tied for 19th.
Rounding out the rankings, Newton (15-3) moves up to No. 6 in Division VII, followed by No. 7 Fort Loramie (14-7), No. 9 Minster (12-6), and No. 17 Russia (9-10).
