Barcelona are closing in on the La Liga title, but they will do so without Lamine Yamal, who has been ruled out until the end of the season due to a fresh injury.

The explosive forward is likely to be involved in this summer’s World Cup, but there are slight doubts creeping in surrounding his overall fitness.

Keeping that in mind, Barcelona are making their position very clear, as far as Yamal’s recovery is concerned.

According to Diario SPORT, Barcelona held a special working meeting this week between the club’s sporting commission and elite physiotherapists Raul Martinez and Fernando Galan.

Both of them have previously worked with the Spanish national team and maintain a direct line of communication with the RFEF.

The meeting, held outside the club’s facilities, was about analysing Yamal’s injury in detail, coordinating medical information between Barcelona and the RFEF, and mapping out a recovery plan for when the teenager joins Luis de la Fuente’s squad.

It appears Barcelona do not want Yamal’s return rushed under any circumstances, citing the high risk of relapse associated with hamstring injuries.

The priority is protecting his long-term condition, both for the World Cup and for next season.

With that in mind, Barcelona would not object to Yamal sitting out Spain’s opening fixtures against Cape Verde on June 15th and Saudi Arabia on the 21st.

The plan would be to have him fully fit for the group stage decider against Uruguay, and from there, the knockout rounds.

The club have already communicated this position to the RFEF and will not hesitate to speak out if they feel the player is being rushed.

Next season, with the Champions League as Barcelona’s primary target, Yamal must arrive at 100%.
