Barcelona are making waves in the transfer market with a fresh focus on young talent, and their latest target is one of Europe's most exciting teenage prospects. Since Sporting Director Deco took the reins, the Catalan giants have aggressively pursued emerging stars from across the continent and Africa, often snapping up lesser-known gems from smaller clubs. But this time, they're setting their sights on a player already making headlines on the global stage: Borussia Dortmund's Samuele Inacio.
The 18-year-old playmaker, who can also operate out wide, has become the center of an international tug-of-war between Italy and Brazil for his national team allegiance. According to reports from BILD (via MD), Barcelona are keen to bring him in—either for a modest fee or on a free transfer next summer when his contract with Dortmund expires. The club has reportedly reached out to Inacio's agents, proposing he join Barcelona Atletic while training with the first team—a path similar to other recent signings. Paris Saint-Germain have also entered the race with a comparable offer, potentially driving up the stakes.
Currently earning around €150,000 per year at Dortmund, Inacio has a contract offer on the table that would bump his wages to €500,000 annually and guarantee him a spot in the senior squad. While transfer insider Fabrizio Romano notes that a renewal is not yet finalized, the teenager appears on track to stay with the German side. Inacio made his Dortmund debut against Bayern Munich in late February and has since racked up four appearances for the first team, including his first start against Freiburg last weekend.
With an attacking midfielder who boasts Italy U-19 caps and a debut goal already under his belt, Barcelona are clearly looking to add depth and flair to their future roster. Whether they can outmaneuver Dortmund and PSG remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: the race for this rising star is just heating up.
