Barcelona's pursuit of Alessandro Bastoni is hitting some serious roadblocks, and the Catalan giants are already scouting Serie A for a plan B. The Inter Milan and Italy star, who once seemed eager to trade the San Siro for the Spotify Camp Nou, is now reportedly leaning toward extending his stay in Milan for at least another season.
Money is also a sticking point. Inter are holding out for a hefty €70 million to part with their defensive anchor, but Barcelona are only willing to go as high as €50 million—and even that might involve throwing a player into the deal. That's a classic transfer tug-of-war, and with Hansi Flick yet to weigh in definitively on the summer plans, sporting director Deco is already covering his bases.
Enter Evan N'Dicka. According to Gianluca Di Marzio, via MD, Deco has his eye on the Roma center-back. Barcelona have been tracking N'Dicka since his Eintracht Frankfurt days—back in 2023, they nearly snagged him on a free transfer. Now, however, the price tag is a different story. Roma are reportedly demanding around €40 million, which is much closer to Barcelona's budget for a new defender. Whether they'll actually pull the trigger on the Ivory Coast international remains an open question.
For now, Barcelona's primary focus is still on convincing both Bastoni and Inter to make a deal happen. But if that path closes, N'Dicka could be the Serie A alternative that keeps their defense on track without breaking the bank.
