Barcelona's La Liga game against Celta Vigo had to be paused on Tuesday just before half-time due to a medical emergency within the stands at Camp Nou.

The game came to a halt with the home side 1-0 up courtesy of a 40th-minute penalty from Lamine Yamal, with players spotted on the broadcast footage looking concerned during the pause in play as treatment was administered.

Exactly what treatment the fan required and what their status was once play resumed has not been clarified by either Barcelona or La Liga in the aftermath, with the reigning league champions having only posted on social media, "The match is currently stopped as medical assistance is being provided to a spectator in the stands," before adding, "The match resumes."

This came towards the end of a half which, on paper at least, saw the visitors enjoy the lion's share of possession and shots. And despite entering the break with the lead, Barcelona will be far from thrilled with the first 45 minutes, not only from a statistical standpoint, but also from a health perspective.

The Portuguese international, who is on loan from Al Hilal, was replaced by Spain national team defender Alejandro Balde.

Then, after taking his penalty, Yamal immediately pulled up and fell to the field, seemingly grabbing his left hamstring whilst receiving medical treatment. The Spanish starlet wound up being replaced by Swedish international Roony Bardghji.
