When Roony Bardghji joined Barcelona for a €2 million fee last summer, it was always seen as a long-term investment.

But after an impressive pre-season campaign, many expected him to play a role, albeit limited, in the first team.

However, as we approach the final phase of the season, Bardghji has fallen out of favour and has mustered only four starts in the league. This has led to speculations about his future at the club.

Fortunately for Bardghji, Barcelona’s sheer dominance in La Liga could pave the way for him to gain more opportunities in these final few matches of the season.

According to SPORT, Bardghji will be given rare opportunities in the final phase of the campaign, aided further by Lamine Yamal’s injury against Celta Vigo.

That means the Swede has six league matches to prove himself and his worth to the team, especially ahead of a busy summer where Barcelona will be looking for attacking reinforcements.

The Catalans are actively looking to sign Marcus Rashford on a permanent deal or at least sign an alternative. But if Bardghji can impress during these final few matches, his role in the team could be bigger next season.

The report adds that one of the solutions Barça are considering this summer is to loan out Bardghji so that he can get regular game-time at the highest level of football.

But it appears the coming matches will serve as a litmus test, potentially helping Barcelona gauge whether or not they should keep the Swede as part of the first-team next season.
