In a moment of frustration during the third T20I against Sri Lanka in Sylhet, Bangladesh women's cricket team captain Nigar Sultana Joty let her emotions get the better of her—and now she's facing the consequences. After being dismissed, Joty threw her bat onto the ground before leaving the field, an action that has landed her in hot water with the International Cricket Council (ICC).

According to an official ICC release, Joty was found to have breached Article 2.2 of the Code of Conduct, which prohibits the "abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment, or fixtures and fittings during an international match." As a result, she has received an official reprimand and one demerit point—her first offence within a 24-month period. The good news for Joty? She admitted the offence and accepted the sanction, meaning no formal hearing was necessary.

The charge was brought by on-field umpires Eloise Sheridan and Shathira Jakir Jesy, along with third umpire Rokeya Sultana and fourth umpire Champa Chakma. Match referee Supriya Rani Das from the Emirates ICC International Panel handled the case. For Level 1 offences like this, penalties can range from a simple reprimand to a fine of up to 50% of the match fee, along with one or two demerit points.

This incident comes at the end of a tough series for Bangladesh, who were swept 3-0 by Sri Lanka. The visitors won the first T20I by 25 runs, the second by 21 runs, and the rain-affected third match—reduced to nine overs per side—by just three runs. For Joty and her team, it's a bitter pill to swallow, but one that offers a valuable lesson in keeping cool under pressure, even when the game doesn't go your way.
