Bailey Ober threw a two-hitter for his first career shutout, leading the Minnesota Twins to a 3-0 victory over the Miami Marlins on Tuesday night in their series opener. Byron Buxton stole home and Ryan Jeffers hit a two-run homer for the Twins, who have won three straight games. Ober (4-2) threw 89 pitches in his third career complete game.

MINNEAPOLIS — Bailey Ober delivered a masterpiece on Tuesday night, tossing a two-hit shutout in the Minnesota Twins' 3-0 win over the Miami Marlins to open their series at Target Field. It was Ober's first career shutout and his third complete game, needing just 89 pitches to silence the Marlins' bats while striking out seven without issuing a walk. After allowing two hits in the first four innings, Ober retired the final 15 batters he faced in dominant fashion.

Byron Buxton added some fireworks of his own, stealing home to spark the Twins' offense. The play came in the fifth inning when Trevor Larnach's single moved Buxton to third, setting up a perfectly executed double-steal that caught the Marlins off guard. Ryan Jeffers then crushed a two-run home run to provide all the insurance Ober would need, as the Twins extended their winning streak to three games.

Miami starter Eury Pérez (2-5) kept the Twins hitless until the fifth inning, finishing with six innings of three-run ball while striking out eight. However, the Marlins' bullpen couldn't maintain the momentum, with reliever Josh Ekness issuing three walks in the seventh inning to put the game out of reach.

The Twins will look to keep rolling tomorrow when Simeon Woods Richardson (0-5, 6.92 ERA) takes the mound against Marlins right-hander Max Meyer (2-0, 2.79) in the second game of this interleague series.
