The Wisconsin Badgers are building serious momentum in their 2027 recruiting class, and they just landed a key in-state prospect who flipped his commitment from a Big 12 program. On Wednesday, linebacker Keaton Wollan—a three-star recruit from Amery, Wisconsin—announced he's staying home and joining the Badgers.
Standing at 6'2" and 210 pounds, Wollan's recruitment really took off this spring. It all started with his first reported offer from Texas Tech in February, followed by an offer from Iowa State in March. He initially committed to the Cyclones in April, but the Badgers had other plans.
Despite not having a reported offer from Wisconsin before his announcement, the Badgers managed to flip Wollan's commitment on Wednesday. How? The linebacker had already taken an unofficial visit to Madison this spring as his recruitment heated up. Once Wisconsin extended an official offer, Wollan jumped at the chance to play for his home-state program.
Wollan is now scheduled for an official visit to Madison during the last weekend of May, giving Badgers fans a chance to see their newest recruit in action on campus.
This commitment marks the 13th pledge in Wisconsin's 2027 class and the ninth recruit from the state of Wisconsin. The Badgers are clearly prioritizing local talent, and keeping players like Wollan in-state is a huge win for the program's future depth at linebacker.
