Steven Pearl and the Auburn Tigers have made their second addition of Monday, landing a commitment from Troy transfer Thomas Dowd, who announced the news on social media.
Dowd, who is from Dothan, Alabama, spent the past three seasons with Troy and helped lead them to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances. He averaged 14.4 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 2.1 assists as a junior, making the All-Sun Belt First-team.
He recorded 18 double-doubles for the Trojans last season, shooting 44.1% from the floor, 33.3% from 3-point range, and 80% from the free-throw line. He has played in 99 games during his career, making 83 starts. He has improved each season and will be looking to take another step as a senior.
Dowd is ranked as the No. 82 overall player and No. 19 power forward in the transfer portal by 247Sports. He is the third transfer they have added this offseason, all of whom will play in the frontcourt. He joins center Bukky Oboye (Santa Clara) and forward Owen Freeman (Creighton). They have also signed center Narcisse Ngoy, who is coming over from France.
The additions were critical with starting forward Keyshawn Hall, starting center KeShawn Murphy, and Sebastian Williams-Adams, no longer with the Tigers.
