Auburn basketball is making waves on the international scene once again, adding another sharpshooter from across the Atlantic to their 2026-27 roster. Lithuanian wing Mantas Rubstavicius, standing at an impressive 6-foot-6, is set to bring his EuroLeague experience to the Plains.
According to Justin Hokanson of Rivals, Rubstavicius joins the Tigers after a season with Zalgiris in the EuroLeague, where a leg injury limited him to just 17 games, averaging 1.8 points and 0.6 rebounds. However, his true potential shone through during the 2024-25 season with Lietkabelis, where he posted standout numbers of 12.4 points and 2.6 rebounds per game. That kind of production is exactly what Auburn needs to bolster their perimeter game.
Rubstavicius is the second European talent to commit to Auburn this offseason, following 7-foot center Narcisse Ngoy, who played with Poitiers in France during the 2025-26 season. Together, they headline a busy transfer haul that includes Adam Olsen (South Alabama), Thomas Dowd (Troy), Owen Freeman (Creighton), and George Kimble (Vanderbilt). These newcomers will blend with returning players like Tahaad Pettiford, Kevin Overton, Simon Walker, and Blake Muschalek for what promises to be an exciting 2026-27 campaign.
As for where Rubstavicius fits in, Hokanson notes he'll compete for the three-spot vacated by Keshawn Murphy and Elyjah Freeman. He'll face competition from Thomas Dowd and freshman Caleb Williams, but his European pedigree and shooting touch make him a strong candidate to lock down that position. For Auburn fans, this is another sign that the Tigers are building a roster with global depth and serious scoring potential.
