AUBURN — Steven Pearl got a significant victory for Auburn basketball from the transfer portal Monday, April 20, as Troy forward Thomas Dowd announced he'd be joining the program after three seasons with the Trojans.

Dowd, a Dothan native, has one season of eligibility remaining. He's the 68th-best player in the transfer portal overall, according to 247Sports' rankings. He's the third portal addition Auburn's made this cycle — and the second of the day — alongside Santa Clara's Bukky Oboye and Creighton's Owen Freeman.

The rising senior played a significant role for the Trojans in each of his three seasons with the program, seeing the court in 99 contests and starting in 66 of the 68 games he played the last two years.

Dowd's latest season was his best yet, as the 6-foot-8 forward averaged a double-double, at 14.4 points and 10.1 rebounds per game, as well as a career-best 2.1 assists.

He posted a double-double in 17 games, grabbing at least 13 boards in seven of those contests. He also logged six 20-point performances, including a career-high 25 points in a double-overtime road win against San Diego State.
