Victor Peterson and his Beavercreek teammates had a score to settle. The last time they faced Fenwick in boys volleyball, it ended in a loss—a result the senior was determined to flip.

On April 8, Peterson didn't just play; he dominated. Anchoring the middle, he delivered 11 kills and shattered his personal records with 14 digs and a massive 10 blocks. His all-around performance was the engine behind a gritty, five-set comeback victory after his team trailed 2-1.

That clutch showing earned him a well-deserved honor: Victor Peterson was voted the Dayton Daily News Athlete of the Week for April 12.

"I learned I got nominated from my trainers," Peterson said, expressing gratitude for the community support. "I thank the school for posting about it and helping me win and thanks to my parents for getting everybody to vote for me."

While he considers himself more of an outside player, Peterson has embraced the responsibility of the middle blocker role. And he's excelled at it. This season, he's a statistical force in the Greater Western Ohio Conference, ranking third in kills (98), second in passes (2.21 avg), and leading the entire league in both service aces (32) and his favorite category: blocks (35).

"I love being able to shut someone down," Peterson said of his blocking prowess. "Stopping someone from being able to score is just the best feeling."

But for Peterson, the numbers only tell part of the story. The true highlight of his senior season is the bond with his teammates, many of whom he's played with for three years.

"I love being on this team. I love all my teammates," he shared. "It’s just the fun memories of just being with everybody, messing around during out of season and in season."

Fueled by that camaraderie, Peterson hopes to lead Beavercreek to a GWOC title and a deep postseason run, turning those off-court bonds into on-court success.
