Rising middleweight star Ateba Abega Gautier is setting his sights on the biggest challenge of his career after a dominant performance at UFC 328. The Cameroonian fighter, known as "The Silent Assassin," called out former champion Israel Adesanya following his second-round knockout victory over Osman Diaz at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Gautier's win was a testament to patience and precision. After a competitive first round where Diaz managed to defend effectively, Gautier landed a devastating right hand early in the second frame that ended the fight. Despite the highlight-reel finish, Gautier insists he wasn't hunting for the knockout.

"I went to the cage thinking, 'I'm going for 15 minutes,'" said Gautier in his post-fight interview. "If he hangs up before 15, it's fine, but if he doesn't hang up, it's OK. I didn't even try to knock him out. It just comes naturally."

Now undefeated in five UFC appearances with four finishes, Gautier (11-1) has his eyes on a clash with former middleweight champion Israel Adesanya. While he holds immense respect for "The Last Stylebender," Gautier believes the matchup would be the ultimate test of his skills.

"Israel, I'm a huge fan of him," Gautier explained. "I really love every fight he has. For me, he is a legend. Nobody will ever change that; he is a legend. I admire him so much. He is an African fighter; he is doing well. So I want to face him. He is someone who will be tough for me... I don't want to fight him, but the wall I see in him."

The timing of the callout is intriguing. While Gautier is riding a wave of momentum, Adesanya (24-6) finds himself in unfamiliar territory, having lost four straight fights—most recently a stoppage defeat to Joe Pyfer this past March. A matchup between the rising contender and the struggling former champ would pit youth and momentum against experience and desperation—a classic crossroads fight in the middleweight division.

For now, Gautier is content to wait for his shot, but he made it clear that when the opportunity comes, he'll be ready to step through that wall.
