Atalanta is facing a pivotal summer, with reports from Italy suggesting the club is preparing for a major shake-up that could bring two familiar faces from Juventus to Bergamo. The Serie A side, which has seen its 2025-26 season unravel in disappointing fashion, may turn to former Juventus executives Cristiano Giuntoli and Thiago Motta to lead a "mini revolution" at the club.

The season has ended on a sour note for La Dea, who have failed to secure Champions League qualification and now risk missing out on Europa League football entirely. With just two draws and two losses in their last four Serie A matches, coupled with a Coppa Italia semi-final defeat to Lazio, the Corriere dello Sport notes that April has essentially "cancelled out" the hard work from earlier in the campaign.

In response, Atalanta is reportedly on the verge of appointing Giuntoli as their new sporting director, replacing the outgoing Tony D'Amico—who has been linked with moves to both Milan and Roma. Giuntoli brings a wealth of experience from his time at Napoli and Juventus, and according to reports, he may not stop at the front office.

The Corriere dello Sport claims that Giuntoli could be tempted to make a change in the dugout early in his tenure, with Thiago Motta emerging as the leading candidate to replace current head coach Raffaele Palladino. Motta, whom Giuntoli appointed during his time at Juventus, has been out of work since leaving the Old Lady near the end of the 2024-25 campaign. Interestingly, Atalanta had considered Motta before ultimately settling on Palladino at the start of the current season.

As the summer transfer window approaches, all eyes will be on Bergamo to see if this potential reunion of former Juventus leaders can reignite Atalanta's ambitions and bring back the glory days of Champions League football.
