Aryna Sabalenka has never been shy about showing her emotions on the court. It suits her sport well, too, as tennis regularly serves up wild swings in momentum and emotion, sometimes within a single match.

Aryna Sabalenka wears her heart on her sleeve, a trait that fits perfectly with tennis's dramatic, momentum-shifting nature. But in last year's French Open final, that intensity boiled over. Facing challenging conditions and a relentless Coco Gauff, Sabalenka saw the match slip away, marking the second time Gauff has beaten her in a Grand Slam final.

For a champion, the response to defeat is everything. Sabalenka is already channeling that loss into fuel, with her performance coach, Jason Stacy, playing a key role in her comeback strategy. In a revealing conversation on the *Served with Andy Roddick* podcast, Stacy outlined their crucial focus for the 2024 clay season: energy management.

"A big focus for us right now is just to manage her energy a lot more, especially going into the European season," Stacy explained. He pointed to 2023 as a critical lesson. Sabalenka's incredible consistency—reaching finals in Brisbane, the Australian Open, Indian Wells, and winning Miami—came at a cost. By the time she battled through to the Roland Garros final, she was physically and emotionally depleted.

"She was so exhausted because she had played so many matches," Stacy said. That fatigue ultimately impacted her performance in the championship match. This year, the plan is to build a smarter schedule, ensuring Sabalenka arrives in Paris fresh and ready to harness her powerful game and fiery passion, turning last year's outburst into this year's controlled aggression.
