Henry Arundell scores four tries as Bath end a run of three games without a win with a comfortable 69-12 victory over Newcastle.

Henry Arundell delivered a stunning four-try performance as Bath snapped a three-game losing streak in emphatic fashion, crushing Newcastle Falcons 69-12 at the Recreation Ground to solidify their hold on second place in the Premiership.

The bonus-point victory pulled Bath to within four points of league leaders Northampton and opened up a six-point gap over third-placed Leicester Tigers. With the final round approaching, Bath’s dominant display sets up a potential winner-takes-all showdown against Leicester at home for a home semi-final berth.

Bath stormed out of the gates, running in five first-half tries to take a commanding 31-0 lead at the break. The onslaught continued in the second half with six more scores, including a brace from Santiago Carreras, as the home side completely overwhelmed their visitors. Finn Russell added seven conversions to cap a near-perfect afternoon for the hosts.

Newcastle’s Alex Hearle crossed for two tries to give the Falcons some consolation, but it did little to mask another heavy defeat for the struggling side, who have now conceded a staggering 259 points in their last four Premiership matches alone.

The result reaffirms Bath’s credentials as genuine title contenders, with their attacking firepower on full display. For Newcastle, the focus now turns to damage control as they continue to search for answers defensively.
