Arsenal fans, get ready for some potentially good news on the injury front. Manager Mikel Arteta has revealed that defender Jurrien Timber might just make a return before the season wraps up.
Timber has been sidelined for the past month with an ankle issue, but the Gunners boss is seeing light at the end of the tunnel. "He has progressed a little bit in the last few days," Arteta shared. "We will try to get him back. He is a really important player for us and he's doing everything he can to help the squad in any way possible."
When pressed about whether the Dutch international could feature again this season, Arteta was cautiously optimistic. "There is a chance, but how big that chance is I cannot tell you. He is going to try and do everything he can to convert that chance, and that's the challenge ahead."
Timber's potential return couldn't come at a better time. With fellow right-back Ben White ruled out for the remainder of the campaign due to a knee injury, Arteta's defensive options have been stretched thin. "It looks like a long-term injury," Arteta confirmed on White. "At the moment the focus is when can we have him back, that is not going to happen in many, many weeks."
Adding to the defensive concerns, Riccardo Calafiori is also a doubt for the upcoming clash against Burnley on Monday after picking up an injury during the West Ham match. "No, we don't know if he's going to be available," Arteta said. "We have days ahead, hopefully it is nothing serious."
For Arsenal supporters, Timber's recovery progress offers a glimmer of hope in what has been a challenging period for the squad's backline. As the season enters its crucial final stretch, every fit player will count.
