Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has delivered a sobering injury update ahead of Monday's final Premier League home game against Burnley, with defender Ben White facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

The Gunners boss confirmed that White's knee injury will keep him out for "many many weeks," though the good news is that surgery won't be required. "It looks like a long-term injury," Arteta explained to reporters on Thursday. "At the moment, the focus is on when we can have him back, and that won't happen for many, many weeks."

This defensive blow is compounded by the ongoing absence of Jurrien Timber, who has been sidelined since mid-March with a groin issue that hasn't healed as quickly as hoped. Arteta offered a cautious update: "He has progressed a little bit in the last few days. We will try to get him back. He's a really important player for us, and he's doing everything he can to help the squad."

Adding to the defensive concerns, Riccardo Calafiori was substituted during the West Ham match and remains a doubt for Monday's clash. "We don't know if he's going to be available," Arteta admitted. "We have a few days ahead, so hopefully it's nothing serious."

On a more positive note, Mikel Merino has returned to strength and conditioning work after being ruled out, giving Arsenal fans a glimmer of hope for the midfield. "We lost Ben the other day, but the others are coming back," Arteta added optimistically. "We're enthusiastic and positive."

For Burnley, the visitors will likely be without Josh Cullen and Jordan Beyer, while Hannibal Mejbri and Connor Roberts are listed as doubts.

With Arsenal's defensive depth being tested at such a crucial stage of the season, fans will be watching closely to see how Arteta reshuffles his backline for this final home fixture. The match at the Emirates promises to be a tense affair as both teams fight for their respective objectives.
