Arsenal aim to dethrone PSG in Budapest and gain revenge after falling short to the Ligue 1 giants in the semi-finals last season

The UEFA Champions League final is set for a blockbuster showdown, with defending champions Paris Saint-Germain taking on Arsenal in Budapest—and this year, the match kicks off three hours earlier than usual.

Arsenal are hungry for revenge after PSG knocked them out in last season's semi-finals, winning 3-1 on aggregate. Now, Mikel Arteta's side has a chance to dethrone the Ligue 1 giants and complete what could be a historic double, with the Premier League title race against Manchester City going down to the wire.

PSG, led by Luis Enrique, are looking to defend the crown they won in dominant fashion last year, thrashing Inter Milan 5-0 in Munich. But Arsenal have momentum on their side after battling past Atletico Madrid in a fiercely competitive semi-final.

So why the earlier kick-off? UEFA has moved the final to a 5pm BST start on 30 May—three hours earlier than the traditional 8pm slot. The decision is all about improving the fan experience.

"The decision is designed to enhance the overall matchday experience for fans, teams and host cities," UEFA said in a statement. "Our goal is to make match day a truly enjoyable experience for everyone who wants to be part of the excitement, while creating a welcoming atmosphere that makes it easy for families and children to attend."

The earlier time means better access to public transport for travelling supporters, safer journeys home, and more time for fans to enjoy the host city. It also opens up a more accessible broadcasting window, helping the final reach a wider global audience—especially younger viewers.

UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin added that the change gives fans the chance to enjoy the rest of their evening, debrief on the match, and soak in the full season's drama. Whether you're watching from the stands or your living room, this final promises to be one for the ages.
