Arsenal describe forward Beth Mead as a "legend of the club" as they announce she is to leave at the end of the season.

Arsenal have confirmed that Beth Mead will leave the club at the end of the season, with the club's director of women's football, Clare Wheatley, calling the forward a "legend of the club." The 31-year-old England international has been a cornerstone of Arsenal's success since joining from Sunderland in 2017, scoring 86 goals in 263 appearances and helping the Gunners lift the Women's Champions League, Women's Super League, FIFA Champions Cup, and three League Cups.

Mead's time at Arsenal has been nothing short of remarkable. She was named player of the tournament and won the Golden Boot as England triumphed at Euro 2022, and she finished runner-up in the 2021-22 Ballon d'Or Feminin. However, her career hit a major setback in November 2022 when she ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament, forcing her to miss the 2023 World Cup. After a grueling 11-month recovery, Mead returned to the pitch and was part of the England squad that retained their European title at Euro 2025.

One of her most memorable moments in an Arsenal shirt came in last season's Champions League final against Barcelona, where she came off the bench to set up the winning goal for Stina Blackstenius, securing Arsenal's first title in the competition in 18 years. This season, she has made 27 appearances across the WSL and Champions League, with 11 of those as a substitute, and scored five goals.

Mead's departure has sparked interest from London City Lionesses and Manchester City, according to reports. Arsenal have also announced that midfielder Victoria Pelova, who joined from Ajax in January 2023, will leave at the end of the season after 87 appearances and six goals for the club.

As Mead prepares to bid farewell to the Emirates, her legacy as one of Arsenal's greatest forwards is secure. For fans, her journey from Sunderland to becoming a club legend is a testament to her resilience and talent—a story that will inspire the next generation of players and fans alike.
