Arsenal Women have confirmed that Laia Codina and Victoria Pelova will leave the club when their contracts expire this summer, marking the end of their respective journeys in north London.

Both players depart with Champions League and Champions Cup medals in hand, having been part of the most successful era in Arsenal's history. However, neither was ever truly part of the club's long-term plans.

Codina arrived in the summer of 2023, fresh off winning the Women's World Cup with Spain. Over three seasons, the defender made 58 appearances and scored four goals, but was predominantly used as a substitute or rotation player. In recent months, she was even deployed as a defensive midfielder to help close out games. While she never locked down a regular starting spot, she leaves with silverware and memories of a historic period at the club.

Pelova's story is a more bittersweet one. The Dutch playmaker joined in January 2023 and quickly became a fan favorite, racking up 87 appearances and six goals. She was a consistent performer under Jonas Eidevall until a ruptured ACL in June 2024 derailed her momentum. Since returning, she has struggled to rediscover her previous form, mostly featuring from the bench with only occasional starts. It's a real shame, given how impressive she was in her first year and a half at the club.

With these two departures, Arsenal have now confirmed four exits this summer, joining Manuela Zinsberger and Naomi Williams. More are expected, alongside multiple new signings and the return of loan players. In a twist, Katie McCabe—who looked destined to leave—could now be offered a new contract as the club makes a u-turn.

On the incoming front, Arsenal have already agreed deals to sign Ona Batlle from Barcelona and Georgia Stanway from Bayern Munich when their contracts expire. As the squad reshapes for the next chapter, fans will be watching closely for who stays, who goes, and who steps up to wear the famous red and white.
