It's been years since Arnold Allen has been able to show his best, but he plans on changing that at UFC Fight Night 276.

After years of setbacks, Arnold Allen is ready to remind the world why he was once considered one of the featherweight division's brightest prospects. The British standout steps into the main event spotlight at UFC Fight Night 276 on Saturday, promising nothing less than a "career-best performance" against streaking contender Melquizael Costa.

Allen (20-4 MMA, 11-3 UFC) hasn't looked like his vintage self since his dominant win over former Strikeforce champion Gilbert Melendez at UFC 239 in 2019—a performance he still considers his most polished. But after a rough stretch that saw him drop three of his last four fights, including a tough loss to perennial contender Max Holloway, the 32-year-old is hungry to reclaim his momentum.

"I think you're going to see a career-best performance from me," Allen told reporters. "I'm going to come out and expect to impress."

Standing across the cage will be a dangerous opponent in Costa (26-7 MMA, 6-2 UFC), who enters on a blistering six-fight winning streak—four of those victories coming by finish. Allen knows exactly what it's like to be the surging contender with everything to prove, and he sees this matchup as the perfect opportunity to reignite his own rise.

"I think that's why they made the matchup, right? We're two aggressive southpaws," Allen said. "He's a finisher, I throw a lot of hands, both of us don't really wrestle. I think he probably wrestles more than me, but yeah, two good strikers, aggressive strikers. He's a finisher. I try and punch people. Yeah, it's going to be good."

With both fighters known for their striking and finishing instincts, Saturday's main event at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas shapes up as a potential Fight of the Night candidate. For Allen, it's not just about getting back in the win column—it's about reminding everyone that his best is still ahead of him.
