Arizona women’s basketball added multiple quality prospects when the transfer portal first opened, but the Wildcats still had several needs. The biggest were experience and size. They got both with the commitment of former Boston University forward Anastasiia Semenova.

The 6-foot-2 Semenova will be a redshirt senior next year after spending four years with the Terriers. She appeared in 78 games with 37 starts in three years on the court. She sat out her junior season with an injury.

Semenova was good for 9.0 points on 49.8 percent shooting in 27.1 minutes per game last season. She averaged 5.4 rebounds, 0.8 assists against 1.7 turnovers, 0.3 steals, 0.8 blocks, and 1.3 personal fouls in 2025-26. She hit 22.4 percent of her 3-point shots on 49 attempts.

Over her three-year playing career, she contributed 6.6 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 0.8 apg against 1.6 tov, 0.4 spg, and 0.5 bpg. She was whistled for 1.2 personal fouls per contest. She shot 47.6 overall and 28.4 percent from 3.

The native of St. Petersburg, Russia arrived in Boston from College of Olympic Reserve No. 1.

Semenova joins a transfer class of forward Gerda Raulušaitytė, guard Aliyahna ‘Puff’ Morris, and forward Breanna Williams. The group of newcomers also include incoming freshmen Jasleen Green, Priyanka Ponnam, Mikayla Presser-Palmer, Arynn Finley, and Karolina Ułan. Arizona returns Sumayah Sugapong, Molly Ladwig, and Callie Hinder, giving the Wildcats 11 players on the roster.

Semenova was part of a Terriers team that went 11-20 overall and 6-12 in the Patriot League last year. She will be taking a big step up in competition with the move to the Big 12.

The Terriers have played one game against a Power 4 team in each of her seasons in Boston. In 2025-26, they traveled to North Carolina. Semenova went 1-6 in that game and grabbed six boards. In 2023-24, she went 1-3 from the floor, had four rebounds, and dished one assist against Colorado. As a freshman in 2022-23, she played eight minutes against Miami (FL) but had no stats.
