The Arizona boys high school volleyball playoffs get underway this week in 6A, 5A, 4A and 3A conferences.

The Arizona high school volleyball scene is heating up as the boys' playoff tournaments officially tip off this week across the 6A, 5A, 4A, and 3A conferences. With championship matches set for May 16, teams are battling for supremacy—and fans are eager to see who will rise to the occasion.

All eyes are on Perry High School, the defending champions and the No. 1 overall seed in 6A. The Pumas have been nothing short of dominant, riding a remarkable 16-match streak of 3-0 shutout wins in conference play. Their overall record stands at an impressive 23-0-2, including in-season tournaments. Leading the charge is 6-foot-9 junior middle blocker Tommy Hinege, who tops 6A in hitting percentage, alongside 6-foot-6 senior outside hitter Logan Gray (ranked No. 7 in hitting percentage) and 6-foot-2 junior setter Tate Higgens, who ranks among the top 10 in aces. Can anyone stop this powerhouse?

Top challengers include No. 2 Mesa Mountain View and No. 3 Sandra Day O'Connor—both undefeated in conference play at 16-0 and 17-0, respectively. Notably, neither team faced Perry during the regular season, setting the stage for a potential showdown. The Eagles have dropped just three sets all season, while the Toros have lost only four. Other contenders to watch include No. 4 Chandler, No. 5 Brophy Prep, and No. 6 Casteel, all hungry to dethrone the champs.

In the 5A conference, last year's champion Campo Verde enters as the No. 3 seed, while runner-up Arizona College Prep is seeded No. 5. These two teams split their regular-season meetings, with Campo Verde rebounding from an early loss to win seven straight shutout matches, including a decisive rematch on April 28. The competition is fierce, but No. 1 seed Glendale Independence (14-1 conference, 22-1 overall) and No. 2 Cienega (15-1 conference, 16-1 overall) have looked formidable all season. Marana Mountain View (14-2) rounds out the top four as the No. 4 seed.

First-round matches for 6A, 5A, and 4A kick off Friday, May 8, at the higher-seeded teams' home courts, while the 3A tournament continues with quarterfinal action. Whether you're cheering for a repeat champion or an underdog story, this year's playoffs promise plenty of spikes, blocks, and unforgettable moments. Gear up and get ready for the action!
