Area golf continues to shine, with Barr-Reeve and Washington leading the pack in a weekend full of impressive performances.
Barr-Reeve had a standout 24-hour stretch, capturing both the Blue-Chip Championship at Country Oaks and the Loogootee Invite on Friday. The Vikings' 310 in the Blue-Chip Championship was a team effort, with Cam Knepp earning medalist honors with a 75, followed closely by Lincoln Miller (76), Lincoln Wagler (77), Brady Wagler (82), and Isaac Knepp (85). All five players earned spots on the All-BCC team, a testament to their depth and consistency.
Loogootee took second place with a 330, powered by Brenden Green's strong round and a pair of 82s from Paxton Arvin and Noah Hager. South Knox finished third at 332, while North Knox (345), Rivet (370), WC (395), Dubois (418), and Shoals (437) rounded out the field. For WC, Jace Hammer led with a 97, Brody Voges and Hank Haag each shot 98, Nick Bassler added a 102, and Owen Cox finished with a 114.
The momentum carried into the Loogootee Invite at Boggs on Friday, where Barr-Reeve again took the top spot in the nine-hole title match with a stellar 145. Cam Knepp led with a 35, Brady Wagler and Isaac Knepp each carded 36s, Lincoln Miller shot 38, and Lincoln Wagler posted a 40. Rilyn Medina, playing as an individual for Barr-Reeve, contributed a solid 38. Loogootee finished second at 154, with Paxton Arvin earning medalist honors with a 34 and Brenden Green adding a 36. North Daviess took third at 167, led by Coby Lohieder's impressive 35, while Bloomfield (168) and WC (198) followed. WC's lineup included Bassler (46), Hammer (47), Voges (52), Haag (53), and Cox (59). Earlier in the week, WC also competed in a three-way match, with NED shooting 195, WC finishing at 217, and Shoals at 219—Haag led WC with a 50.
Meanwhile, Washington made noise at the Bloomington Invite, tying for second place with a strong 318 in a competitive 15-team field. The Hatchets were just four strokes shy of the win, with Patrick McCarthy leading the way at 78, Bensen Smith at 79, Aiden Boyd at 81, Tristan Zollars at 82, and Drew Jones at 83. Bloomington North took the title with a 314, while Bedford also shot 318, and Perry Meridian finished at 320.
