Analyst Steve Palazzolo issued a red flag on Arch Manning's potential ahead of the 2027 NFL Draft.

The hype train surrounding Arch Manning may be hitting its first real speed bump. For months, the Texas quarterback has been widely penciled in as the future No. 1 overall pick in the 2027 NFL Draft—but a sluggish start to the 2025 season has raised some serious red flags.

While Manning still finds himself in the Heisman conversation heading into 2026, NFL analyst Steve Palazzolo recently poured cold water on the growing expectations. On Tuesday, Palazzolo broke down what he sees as critical flaws in Manning's game, particularly when it comes to accuracy and mechanics.

"I still don't think he's throw-for-throw accurate," Palazzolo said. "His ball placement is all over the place, and I don't love his front arm. I think it affects his accuracy. It's not just an aesthetic thing—it's about mechanics. He's so tight that it puts a lot of pressure on his arm to reach the proper release point, and that hurts his accuracy."

The numbers back up some of those concerns. Manning finished the 2025 season with a 61.4% completion rate and struggled to push the ball downfield consistently. He was sacked 23 times, and evaluators noted a lack of fluidity when dealing with pressure in the pocket. For a quarterback expected to be the face of a franchise, those are areas that need immediate attention.

Even ESPN draft guru Mel Kiper Jr. weighed in on the "First Draft" podcast this week, making it clear that Manning still has work to do if he wants to lock down that No. 1 spot. Kiper pointed to Manning's completion percentage and overall consistency as areas that need improvement before he can be considered a sure thing.

That said, it's not all doom and gloom. If Manning can sharpen his ability to read defenses pre-snap and clean up his mechanics, he remains firmly in the mix as a top prospect for 2027. But with a growing list of polished quarterbacks waiting in the wings, the margin for error is shrinking fast. For now, the Arch Manning hype train is still rolling—but it's definitely running a little slower than it was a year ago.
