Tuesday, April 14th, was a busy day for Appleton-area high school sports, with baseball, softball, track and field, and golf teams all in action. The baseball diamond saw some standout performances and tight contests that highlight the competitive spirit of local athletes.

In a commanding display, the Hortonville Polar Bears shut out Appleton East 8-0. The Polar Bears set the tone early, plating three runs in the first inning and adding another three in the fourth. Tristan Berrans powered the offense with a home run and three RBIs, while Gary Wuest contributed two hits and two RBIs. On the mound, Mason Burrichter was dominant, pitching a complete-game two-hitter with nine strikeouts to secure the win.

Another close battle unfolded as Fox Valley Lutheran edged out Seymour 3-2. The Foxes built a 3-0 lead through two innings and held on as Seymour rallied for two runs in the sixth. Spencer Bromm drove in two crucial runs for FVL, with Luke Heimerl adding another. For Seymour, Cayden Staffeldt accounted for both runs with a key hit.
