Monday was a packed day for high school sports in the Appleton area, with baseball, softball, soccer, lacrosse, and golf teams all hitting the field. Here's a rundown of the action, starting with the diamond.

In baseball, De Pere edged out Kaukauna 4-3 in a tight nonconference matchup. The Redbirds, now 13-5 overall, found themselves tied 3-3 in the bottom of the fifth inning when Fisher Anderson was hit by a pitch, forcing in the go-ahead run. Jake Mleziva earned the win on the mound, surrendering six hits and three runs over five innings while striking out five and walking two. For Kaukauna, Kaden Kress collected two hits, and Quentin Gustman drove in two runs.

Ashwaubenon also picked up a nonconference win, defeating the Bluejays 8-3 thanks to a six-run third inning that turned a tight game into a comfortable lead. Nolan Vertz led the charge with two hits and three RBIs, while Andrew Jeske added two hits and Caden Blasczyk chipped in two RBIs. Kingston Vang got the win, pitching 4⅔ innings and allowing nine hits and six runs (four earned) while striking out six. Alex Thayse closed it out with 2⅓ scoreless, hitless innings and two strikeouts.

Appleton's Spartans took down Xavier 4-2, powered by Ethan Engum's solid start. Engum allowed just three hits and two runs over 4⅓ innings to secure the win. For Luxemburg-Casco, Noah Chervenka drove in two runs, and Tatem Klaubauf had two hits. Xavier's Quinn Comerford had two hits, including a solo home run, but Frankie Cavaiani took the loss despite a strong outing—seven innings, four runs on seven hits, eight strikeouts, and just one walk.

Seymour pulled off a dramatic comeback, scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh to win 5-4 after the Phantoms had taken a 4-3 lead in the top half. Romy Oskey, Brayden Banker, and Nolan Beilfuss each had two hits for Seymour, while Kobe Barth turned in a stellar performance on the mound, pitching five scoreless innings with two hits allowed and eight strikeouts.

Finally, Freedom defeated Waupaca 4-0 in a North Eastern Conference clash, scoring four runs in the top of the fourth inning. The Comets capitalized on three Waupaca errors, as all four runs were unearned. Westen Lauritzen drove in two runs to lead the offense.
