Two regional champions are set to collide under the bright lights of Dana White's Contender Series, as undefeated prospect Jon Kunnemann takes on LFA titleholder Joseph Kropschot in a middleweight showdown on August 11. The card, streaming exclusively on Paramount+, will take place at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas.
This marks Kunnemann's second opportunity on the DWCS stage, after an injury forced him to withdraw from his scheduled bout last August against Cam Rowston. Now healthy and ready to seize the moment, the 10-0 fighter brings an impressive resume to the Octagon. As the current Anthony Pettis Fighting Championship middleweight champion, Kunnemann has shown devastating finishing ability, stopping all 10 opponents inside two rounds—with nine of those victories coming in the first round. He's also a longtime training partner of UFC interim lightweight champion Justin Gaethje, which speaks volumes about his preparation and toughness.
Standing across from him will be Kropschot, the LFA middleweight champion, who enters on a four-fight win streak with finishes in every victory. The 185-pound titleholder most recently captured the LFA belt in February, submitting David Allakhverdiev in the second round at LFA 226. For Kropschot, this fight represents the biggest opportunity of his career, and he'll look to extend his momentum against a fellow champion who has never tasted defeat.
With both fighters holding regional gold and finishing power, this middleweight matchup promises fireworks. For Kunnemann, it's a chance to finally make his DWCS debut and prove he belongs among the UFC's next generation. For Kropschot, it's an opportunity to crash the party and announce himself on the biggest stage of his career. August 11 can't come soon enough.
