Anthony Richardson's future with the Indianapolis Colts remains uncertain, but the former No. 4 overall pick is staying focused on the present. While reports indicate he's seeking a trade and the Colts are open to moving him, the market has been described as "soft," leaving the quarterback in Indianapolis for now—and potentially for the long haul.

After skipping the start of the team's voluntary offseason program, Richardson reported for Phase 2 workouts on May 4. Despite the trade rumors swirling, he's taking a professional approach. "The Colts are still giving me a chance to go out there and work, work hard and potentially get on the field," Richardson said, via the Indianapolis Star. "Glad to be able to stay in the NFL and put the work in. Just showing up at OTAs, it was a blessing in disguise for me, because I just wanted to work and they allowed me to do that so I'm thankful for that."

The 2023 draft standout lost his starting job to Daniel Jones last season, and now finds himself in a competitive backup role. Coach Shane Steichen recently avoided confirming whether Richardson would battle Riley Leonard—a 2025 sixth-round pick—for the No. 2 spot behind Jones. It's a far cry from the expectations that came with being a top-five selection just a few years ago.

Richardson is also recovering from a fractured orbital bone, the result of a freak pregame accident on October 12. But rather than dwelling on the injury or his uncertain future, he's keeping his head down. "If I don't put that work in to be a better player then I won't be in the NFL," Richardson said. "I just want to work hard and constantly think about my opportunity that I have now and try to take advantage of it."

For a player with elite athleticism and a rocket arm, the road hasn't been easy. But in the NFL, resilience often defines a career. Whether Richardson stays in Indy or eventually lands elsewhere, his mindset remains the same: show up, work hard, and be ready when the opportunity comes.
