Is this a new era in Dallas? Jerry Jones has been promising change, and this offseason, he's delivering. The Cowboys' latest move—quickly signing six of their seven 2026 draft picks—shows a franchise operating with newfound urgency.

After a disappointing 7-9-1 season and two straight years without a playoff berth, Jones admitted he needed to learn from his mistakes. That introspection has led to a series of bold decisions. First, he trusted head coach Brian Schottenheimer to hire a rookie defensive coordinator, Christian Parker—a coach Jones didn't even know—and let them build their own staff. Then, he opened the checkbook in free agency, bringing in defensive stars like Rashan Gary, Jalen Thompson, and Cobie Durant, while also trading for Dee Winters. The Cowboys even swung for the fences on Maxx Crosby and top linebackers Nakobe Dean, Quay Walker, and Devin Lloyd—showing they're not afraid to dream big.

Dallas also locked down two All-Pros: wide receiver George Pickens on a $27.3 million franchise tag and kicker Brandon Aubrey on a five-year, $33 million extension. And now, with draft picks signing quickly—including top talent Caleb Downs, who hit the practice field at The Star—the Cowboys are proving they mean business.

Only first-round pick Malachi Lawrence remains unsigned, but his deal is expected to be around $20.5 million. For a team that used to drag its feet on rookie contracts, this fast-paced approach is a welcome change. Whether it translates to wins on the field remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: Jerry Jones is sticking to his word.
