In the world of professional basketball, few topics spark as much debate as the league's most underrated players. A recent anonymous NBA poll has delivered some fascinating results, with Boston Celtics guard Derrick White and Atlanta Hawks forward Jalen Johnson sharing the top spot as the players who still fly under the radar.
The poll, which featured responses from a wide cross-section of NBA players, saw an impressive 89 different players receive at least one vote. This diversity of opinion isn't surprising given the league's incredible depth of talent, but it also suggests that some players may have cast votes for their teammates. For clarity, the focus here is on the top six vote-getters who received 3.3 percent or more of the votes.
What's become abundantly clear is that Derrick White's reputation among his peers continues to grow, even if the general public hasn't fully caught on. The Celtics guard has been a consistent presence in these rankings year after year. In 2024, he tied with Oklahoma City Thunder's Jalen Williams for the honor. The year before, he finished second to Detroit Pistons' Cade Cunningham. Now, White has claimed the top spot once again, this time sharing the crown with Atlanta's rising star Jalen Johnson.
Johnson's emergence is particularly noteworthy. The Hawks forward has been quietly developing into one of the league's most versatile and impactful players, and his peers have taken notice. His ability to contribute across multiple categories—scoring, rebounding, and playmaking—makes him a nightmare matchup for opponents, yet he still doesn't receive the national recognition he deserves.
For basketball fans and sports apparel enthusiasts alike, these are the players to watch. When you see a Derrick White or Jalen Johnson jersey in the crowd, you know you're looking at someone who truly understands the game. These are the players who make winning plays that don't always show up in the box score but are essential to a team's success. Whether it's White's defensive intensity and clutch shooting or Johnson's all-around brilliance, these underrated stars are proving that recognition doesn't always come with the biggest headlines—but it does come from the respect of their peers.
