The Los Angeles Angels needed a win to take their series against Chicago, and starter Walbert Urena led the way.

The Los Angeles Angels secured a decisive 8-2 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Sunday, clinching the three-game series in style. Starter Walbert Urena delivered another stellar performance, proving he belongs in the rotation with his commanding presence on the mound.

Urena was the story of the day, allowing just one run on two hits over six innings while striking out five. His ability to control his formidable stuff kept the White Sox offense in check after an early scare.

Chicago briefly took the lead in the second inning. Colson Montgomery doubled, Chase Meidroth singled, and Andrew Benintendi drove in Montgomery with a sacrifice fly, making it 1-0. That was all the White Sox would get off Urena, however, as the Angels roared back with a vengeance.

The turning point came in the bottom of the second when the Angels erupted for five runs. Travis d'Arnaud crushed a three-run homer to ignite the rally, followed by a Bryce Teodosio double and a Zach Neto triple. Neto had an outstanding day, finishing with two RBIs and two runs scored. The fifth run came with a touch of comedy: Mike Trout hit a pop fly that Meidroth lost in the sun—because he forgot his sunglasses—allowing Neto to scamper home.

The Angels padded their lead in the fourth inning in bizarre fashion. With the bases loaded, Jorge Soler and Jo Adell were both hit by pitches, forcing in two more runs. This marked a historic moment: Drew Pomeranz later hit a batter with the bases loaded in the seventh for the White Sox, making it the first time in baseball history that three runs were driven in by hit-by-pitches with the bases loaded. Chicago nearly rallied when Munetaka Murakami came up with the bases full, but Pomeranz escaped with a strikeout.

The Angels added an insurance run in the eighth to make it 8-2, and reliever Chase Silseth shut the door with a clean finish, preventing any late White Sox fireworks. This victory marked the Angels' first series win since they beat the Cincinnati Reds on the road from April 10-12, and only their second series win of the season.

For Angels fans, this win is a much-needed boost—and a reminder that when the pitching and hitting click, this team can be dangerous. Gear up for the next series with our latest Angels collection, featuring everything from game-day jerseys to caps that keep you ready for every big moment.
