The Los Angeles Angels placed catcher Logan O’Hoppe on the 10-day injured list ahead of their game against the Kansas City Royals on Sunday.

O’Hoppe left Saturday’s game after a foul ball struck him in the wrist in the bottom of the seventh inning. He played out the remainder of the inning, but left the game afterwards. The Orange County Register’s Jeff Fletcher reports O’Hoppe has a fractured wrist.

The 26-year-old has had some issues with injury over the last few seasons, but should still recover quickly with none of those prior instances coming in his wrist. He briefly sat on the injured list in 2025 with a concussion and spent a lot of time on the IL with a shoulder issue in 2023.

The catcher is off to a slow start to the 2026 season, batting just .206 with a .579 OPS through 26 games this season. He has just one homer in that time to go with eight RBIs. He has struggled with striking out once again this season, though has cut his K% to 24.7% from 30.8% last year.

In his place, backup Travis d’Arnaud will likely get the lion’s share of the reps behind the plate.

To replace him on the roster, the Angels selected the contract of Sebastian Rivero.

Rivero has played 14 games with Triple-A Salt Lake this year, and has a .239/.275/.283 slash line through 14 games.
