Angel Reese is thriving. The WNBA superstar just finished her second season with Unrivaled Basketball, joined the Atlanta Dream, and recently had an intimate sit-down conversation with former First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama. On her Instagram Stories, the former Chicago Sky player praised Michelle and her brother, Craig Robinson, for creating a safe space for her to tell her story.
Reese sat down with Michelle and Robinson for an episode of their wildly popular “IMO” podcast. In the episode, the group of three discussed Reese’s rise to fame, how she handles her finances, and the pressure of living life in the public eye.
The promo clip of the episode showed Michelle commending Reese—who has been on a stellar run since winning the NCAA championship in 2023—and talking about how much she’s enjoyed watching the LSU alum dominate in new spaces.
“You are handling yourself beautifully,” Michelle said. “It’s not just what you do, it’s the way you carry yourself.” Michelle continued, “It is really a joy to watch you manage it all, and you do it with a smile on your face, with an excellent attitude.”
On her IG Stories, Reese got emotional talking about the special episode, showing love to Michelle and Robinson for creating a welcoming environment for her to share more about herself.
Reposting a clip of their episode, Reese got candid about her conversation with the former First Lady.
“To know me is to know that I’m intentional about who I share my space with,” she wrote. “Especially in the media.
Reese went on to say that speaking with Michelle and Robinson “felt like a breath of fresh air” before sharing that she was thankful to have a “real conversation with people who genuinely understand and lead with care.”
Indeed, Reese has been open in the past about ignoring the media when she’s able. According to a previous report from The Blast, the 23-year-old faced significant backlash in the summer of 2025 after a quote in which she spoke about her Chicago Sky teammates went viral.
During her conversation with the reporter, Reese got real about the Sky’s abysmal season, stressing the importance of getting better players during the WNBA’s free agency period.
“I’m not settling for the same s— we did this year,” she shared at the time. “We have to get good players. We have to get great players. That’s a nonnegotiable for me. I’m willing and wanting to play with the best.”
The Chicago Sky suspended Reese for half a game due to comments they deemed “detrimental” to the team. However, Reese never put on a SkyTown jersey after that.
On April 6, it was revealed that Reese had been traded from Chicago to the Atlanta Dream, pairing her up with All-Stars Allisha Gray, Rhyne Howard, and Brionna Jones.
“This trade is designed to achieve roster balance and represents a great opportunity for all parties,” Sky general manager Jeff Pagliocca said in a statement. “Angel has achieved many record-breaking milestones in her first two years in the WNBA and has been a competitive force for the Sky. We are thankful for her many important contributions to this league and this game, and we know she will continue to have a big impact on the court and beyond.”

Despite the drama, Reese is looking forward to her third year in the league, according to The Blast. “Being able to come to an organization that really cared about their players, just being able to see a GM that really wanted me and knew what my talents are,” she said in late April 2026.
“Being able to talk to players that genuinely know what I am and who I am as a person, but also as a player, is like a breath of fresh air,” she added.
Reese fought back tears as she spoke about the “sisterhood” she has with her teammates, saying, “It lowkey makes me emotional because I haven’t had this and I’m really grateful and I’m really looking forward to the start.”
