The Atlanta Dream will begin the 2026 WNBA season with high expectations after a trade earlier this month brought two-time All-Star Angel Reese to ATL.

But the Dream will have a frontcourt puzzle to solve early in the season amid the news that center Brionna Jones is set for a spell on the sidelines.

The Dream announced Monday that Jones has undergone surgery on her right knee. Jones, a four-time All-Star, will be out indefinitely as she recovers.

Jones re-signed with Atlanta as a free agent following a successful first season with the Dream in which she averaged 12.8 points and 7.3 rebounds while continuing to provide the stellar defense she offered over eight years with the Connecticut Sun.

Back in January though, Jones suffered a meniscus tear while playing overseas. It was thought at the time that Jones would be ready for the start of the WNBA season, but that initial timeline has been thrown into some doubt.

The uncertainty on Jones' status moving forward means Reese could play as the 5 with Naz Hillmon as her frontcourt partner to begin the season, in what would mark a major shift for the two-time rebounding champion.
