The Manchester United Women's team has experienced a season full of dramatic highs and lows—a true rollercoaster ride for players and fans alike. They kicked off the campaign in electric form, securing their spot in the UEFA Women's Champions League group stage and climbing as high as second place in the Women's Super League table for much of the season.

However, the momentum shifted as the year wore on. A heartbreaking loss in the League Cup final to Chelsea, combined with a quarter-final exit in the Champions League at the hands of Bayern Munich, left the squad deflated. The final blow came as they slipped to fourth in the league standings, meaning there will be no European football for the women's team next season.

Head coach Marc Skinner has faced increasing scrutiny for the team's decline, but he has defended his leadership, pointing to the need for greater squad depth to compete at the highest level and cope with injuries. Skinner recently stated that the club requires around five new signings to strengthen the roster for the upcoming campaign—and it appears the Red Devils are already scouting talent.

According to Spanish journalist Irati Vidal of DAZN, "Manchester United have shown interest in Andrea Medina to bolster their left-back position." Vidal added that the 22-year-old full-back is out of contract this summer, and Atlético Madrid is already searching for replacements to cover a potential departure. This approach fits United's recent strategy of signing free agents, having brought in Swedish duo Hanna Lundkvist in the winter and Fridolina Rolfo last summer.

Medina is a promising young talent who has represented Spain at the under-19, under-20, and under-23 levels. Despite her age, she has already amassed 102 appearances for Atlético Madrid, showcasing her experience and reliability. Known for her "speed, defensive resilience, and tactical versatility," she has played 27 matches this season, scoring one goal. Notably, she featured in all three Champions League encounters against Manchester United this season, giving the club a firsthand look at her abilities.

As the women's team closes out their season with an away trip to Chelsea this afternoon, the focus is already shifting to the summer transfer window. With a need for pace and defensive grit, Andrea Medina could be the dynamic full-back Manchester United needs to turn their rollercoaster season into a championship-winning ride.
