Andrea Iannone, a familiar name to MotoGP and WorldSBK fans, is making a thrilling return to full-time competition—but this time, he's trading sleek prototypes for something with a bit more muscle. The former race winner will join the newly launched FIM Harley-Davidson Baggers World Cup, an electrifying support series that roars alongside six MotoGP weekends this season.

The series kicked off at the United States Grand Prix with nine powerful machines on the grid, and it's already turning heads. Now, Iannone is set to shake things up when he debuts with the Niti Racing team at the iconic Mugello circuit, scheduled for May 29-31. The Indonesian outfit made an impressive start, with Spanish rider Oscar Gutierrez snatching a tight victory in the second race. Adding Iannone to the mix creates one of the strongest line-ups in the paddock, expanding the grid to ten riders.

Iannone's journey has been anything but ordinary. A celebrated winner in both MotoGP and WorldSBK, he was sidelined from full-time racing in 2019 following a doping suspension. He made a brief, emotional return to MotoGP with VR46 in 2024 and has since completed two seasons in WorldSBK. Now, he's ready to channel his aggressive riding style and raw racing instinct into this bold new challenge—and he's already tipped as a favorite for the inaugural World Cup title.

"I like challenges, especially when they take you out of your comfort zone," Iannone said. "This is something completely different, and that is precisely why I said yes. I am very excited to start this new chapter, since I have always admired Harley-Davidson and its iconic community of riders. These bikes have a strong personality, they must be respected, but at the same time they can be pushed to the maximum. In that sense, we are quite similar, and I think that is why this project suits me like a glove."

For fans who love the roar of engines and the grit of racing, this is a comeback story worth watching. Whether you're a die-hard MotoGP follower or just appreciate the thrill of two-wheeled competition, Iannone's return adds a fresh spark to the track—and maybe even a little inspiration for your next ride.
