Andre Drummond might be in his 13th NBA season, but he's still handing out lessons to the league's newest arrivals—and doing it with a smile.
Former Duke star Kon Knueppel recently appeared on the "Dale Jr. Download" podcast with NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr., where the rookie opened up about his first season. When asked about his "Welcome to the NBA" moment, Knueppel didn't hesitate to name Philadelphia 76ers veteran center Andre Drummond.
"He hit me with a nice screen in the second game of the season. That's a tough one; he's a big dude," Knueppel recalled.
Earnhardt Jr. pressed for more details, asking if Drummond said anything during the play. Knueppel's response was simple: "No, he just drilled me."
True to the NBA's long tradition of veteran-rookie banter, Drummond caught wind of the comments and fired back on social media Thursday afternoon. "Sorry, rook, at least you only have to see me 4 times out of 82 games! Plenty more waiting for you," he wrote on X.
For basketball fans, this exchange is a perfect reminder that the game isn't just about stats—it's about the gritty, physical moments that shape a player's journey from college star to pro. And for anyone who's ever stepped on the court, they know that a hard screen from a 6-foot-10, 280-pound center is a rite of passage you don't forget.
